De commissie wetenschap heeft recent een nieuwe tijdschriftenlijst samengesteld, nader uitgewerkt naar specialisatie.

Tijdschriftenlijst

In deze lijst zijn tijdschriften opgenomen die voor praktische filosofie en ethiek tot de wetenschappelijke top behoren. Deze lijst is recent opnieuw herzien door de commissie wetenschap. Voor de beoordeling van de kwaliteit van publicaties van leden van de OZSE is deze lijst een belangrijk referentiepunt. Opgemerkt moet worden dat, gezien de sterk interdisciplinaire benadering van de school, de lijst niet volledig en (in sommige opzichten ook) voorlopig van aard is. Dit geldt niet zozeer voor de 'toptijdschriften' op het gebied van de wijsgerige ethiek en de praktische filosofie, maar vooral voor verschillende gebieden van de toegepaste ethiek. Om twee redenen is het benoemen van zogenaamde 'toptijdschriften' hier lastig.
Toegepaste ethici publiceren vaak in hoog aangeschreven tijdschriften binnen het vakgebied waar ze werkzaam zijn (medische-ethici publiceren b.v. in Lancet), maar deze tijdschriften zijn primair gericht op een niet-ethische discipline. Het is wenselijk dat toegepaste ethici in dergelijke tijdschriften publiceren, maar het maakt het benoemen van de zogenaamde toptijdschriften lastig. Niet alle vaktijdschriften kunnen genoemd worden. De commissie wetenschap hanteert dan ook een case by case-beoordeling waarbij ook met de in deze vakgebieden erkende standaarden rekening gehouden wordt.
Voor sommige toegepast-ethische vakgebieden geldt dat ze sterk in ontwikkeling zijn, en dat er daardoor nog geen sprake is van langdurig kwalitatief hoog aangeschreven tijdschriften. Voor die vakgebieden kunnen we alleen de tijdschriften noemen die op dit moment als 'goed' worden beschouwd, maar dit zegt weinig over de reputatie van deze tijdschriften op de lange termijn. De commissie wetenschap zal de stand van zaken op deze vakgebieden bij deskundigen regelmatig controleren en de lijst aanpassen.
