Types of membership |

NSRPP MemberGraduated PhD researchers, working at a Dutch university, whether the institution participates in NSRPP or not (individual membership is also possible for those who do not work at collaborating institution) can apply for membership. A cv and publication list is submitted to the Science Committee
J.unior MemberAs above. This applies in particular to recently graduated PhD researchers who have not yet met the quality requirements for membership. They are accepted as Junior Members and are given the opportunity to continue as Junior Member until the recognition period is expired, or to submit their publications to the Science Committee prior to that date, in order to obtain expedited membership. Membership is obtained by application to NSRPP and submission of a cv.
Associate MemberGraduated PhD researchers, working at a Dutch university, whether the institution participates in NSRPP or not, who from their institution/field of study have their primary membership at another research school, can become Associate Member. The admission criteria are those of ‘ordinary’ Members.
PhD candidatePhD candidates, employed by a Dutch university, whether the institution participates in NSRPP or not, submit, together with their thesis supervisor, a Plan of Training and Supervision, and take the training offered via NSRPP. Requirements are: thesis supervisor must be a Member or Associate Member of NSRPP, and there must be a cooperative agreement with the institution.
Associate PhD candidatePhD candidates, employed by a Dutch university, whether the institution participates in NSRPP or not, can, if the discipline requires primary participation in another research school, submit a Plan of Training and Supervision if structural participation in the NSRPP programme is desirable for both the PhD candidate and NSRPP. Requirements are: the thesis supervisor must be a Member or Associate Member of NSRPP, and there must be a cooperative agreement with the institution. |

Application procedure for (new) PhD members |

PhDs in university employment can, subject to employer approval, apply for membership of the NSRPP. Please send us your curriculum vitae and a list of publications via email (
